This weekend we discovered something new from our little bean. She now "gives kisses" if you will. Check out the video. Basically we make the kissing noise so much to her, on her cheeks, etc. that we think she has picked it up and is trying to do it back. It is absolutely adorable and she literally did it the entire weekend! Enjoy Gwen's kisses!!!
On another note, I really am working on getting the rest of Xmas and her baptism posted, I have just been so busy with work that when I get home, I would rather hang out with Gwen and Jason than get on the computer! I am not sure if everyone knows but I got a promotion at work this past week :) so I have been in a bit of a transition lately and will be until after I get back from Boston (the 1st week of Feb.)
To quickly explain, I WAS a recruiter. My role was to interview creative talent, find talent, reach out to talent whom reached out to us about their skills, current situation and possible matches with clients we have. I have been promoted to Agent now which means I get to have client contact and handle my own accounts, as well as still doing the recruiting. I will be taking orders from clients and doing the quality checks with talent and clients as well. I was also given the title Design Expert in the NJ area. This means I will be handling any talent, clients and job orders dealing with the creative side of our business, which is over 70% of what we do. I was then given the duties for our online educational training, lynda.com, plus I have bootcamp at headquarters in Boston Feb. 2-6 so needless to say, I have been REALLY busy lately!
Promise, the rest of xmas and Gwen's baptism will come soon!

The first few days of Christmas
Gwen got to meet her newest cousin, Brennan and boy did she love it! She reached out for her, touched her, pulled at her clothing, pretty much wanted to just scoop that beautiful baby right up and eat her! Actually, I would not put it past Gwen to try and put Brennan in her mouth, she seems to do that with everything lately! The two babies were very fun together and it was nice seeing Niki and Shane right away. The let us use their crib for Gwen so that was great, too. Gwen loved it, passed out almost instantly. Her RSV was gone within the first few days being back in Iowa and she was a little cranky, but nothing compared to the week before.
We went over to Jason's grandma Rumley's house on that Sunday to have a Christmas and she just loved Gwen to pieces. Gwen enjoyed her too letting her pick her up and carry her around...we were very shocked and very proud of Gwen. She got some bath stuff which was good because I didn't bring any! Perfect gift although all she seemed to want was the paper inside the bag!
We had a holiday party at our friends house to go to that first weekend as well. Emily and her husband Brent held it and Gwenie got to see one of her boyfriends, Tyler! She even got presents...spoiled much by her aunties or what?! It was very fun though. The guys pretty much drank beer and watched football (Vikings were on) and the girls stared at the babies interacting on the floor, munched on great snacks and gossiped like we should :) I really do miss Iowa for those fun times with friends, you really cannot beat them and honestly, I am so blessed to have such great friends, so is Jason. It truly is a huge part of us that is missing being out here which makes us cherish it even more when we do get it.
Gwen loved being around Tyler. They played with toys together, held hands once again and even crawled on the floor...under the footstool...onto the food...every where. Tyler was crawling forwards while Gwen was crawling backwards so it was a pretty funny show. Of course they did their baby talk which makes you wonder what on earth are they could be talking about? Gwen did pretty good with other people that night, but she definitely got better at the end of the trip.
Oooo, I did win the movie 27 Dresses and some chocolate during the gift exchange game and that movie is really really cute so I made out well. Way to go Jennifer on the Black Friday find...$10 gift limit...sweet!
We did manage to snap a shot of ourselves after the party. I should have had someone take a family picture of us and one of just Jason and I, but this will do!

Our New Jersey Christmas
I can't really write about the Christmas in Iowa before I write about our Christmas in New Jersey! Friday night before we left we had Gwen open her Christmas presents from us as well as her first xmas stocking.

This was her first time opening presents/tearing paper and she seriously LOVED it! We had to get it started for her in the beginning by pulling a piece off a bit, but then she instantly grabbed it and pulled. Sometimes her pulling would be slow and dainty...

and other times she would just rip into it! There was even a time she was NOT having it...

It was so funny. Towards the end when she was getting the hang of it, she started waving her arms and yelping, grabbing toys and kicking her feet. It was as if she knew this was a special night.

Gwen left no presents behind. She even tried to open boxes and pull gifts out of their holders, it was so cute. Jason opened one of the big gifts, where you drop these balls into the top of this smiley face and then hit a button for them to spiral down it and out the bottom to music, and if babies jaws could drop, I think Gwen's did. Absolutely mesmerized by this goofy toy.

Eddie got to have some fun as well. We did not get him any presents this year nor did we force him to wear an elf costume for a family portrait, but he did get to wrestle around in all the wrapping paper and believe me, he was in heaven!

We ended the night with a few family photos taken the best way we know how (our heads huddled together while Jason's arm reaches around to snap the shot). Out of all of the presents Gwenie got, she seemed to love chewing on the box of her tights the most, ha! At one point, she seemed to fall asleep sitting up, but that was ok, it was late and she was a trooper :)

Like I said, she even fell asleep sitting :) I guess we kinda knew it was time to go to bed after this one! (ok ok, so she might just be looking down, but still, it was late!) Gwen's New Jersey Christmas was just the beginning of a wonderful first Christmas. More xmas fun to come :)

Gwen is a jet setter :)
So the flight was very easy. Gwen is such a jet setter. Honestly in all 4 flights she probably slept for 1 hour total! One of the flights she stayed awake the entire time! CRAZY! I think maybe we need to start visiting our friends in foreign lands now, obviously Gwen could handle it! Ok, 3 hours and 10 hours are completely different on a plane, but it would be fun to travel more...oh wait, I guess money is more of a factor rather than just the fact that Gwen is a good flyer, hehe.
Back to the flights. We actually had a few delays causing us to miss our Chicago connection, but in the end we got home about 5 hours later than we normally would have. Actually on the stand by flight in Chicago they called my name and told me they had one seat for me. I thought about it long and hard, lol, but then decided I should probably stay with my family, HA! The woman laughed and found another seat for Jason and Gwenie so we got on that flight with was nice because that was at 1 pm and the flight we would have been on would have been 530 pm, yuck!
Gwen was more vocal on this flight and reached out to other people making them laugh or smile back...generally we have not received any snotty comments or bad looks from those people whom do not like to fly near kids so we are pretty lucky about that. I will say that each flight became a little colder as we exited it and when we finally got into Des Moines we walked out of the airport and instantly froze...are you kidding me? FREEZING! I walked straight back into the airport with Gwen until Jason's parents arrived with the car. Seriously, NJ gets this warm breeze off of the Gulf Coast I think which usually results in any type of snow melting within 1 day and rarely do we get ice storms or even under freezing temps...I was not ready for the wall of negative degree weather that smacked me in the face!
Here are some pics of Gwen's flight, enjoy!

Fetch mom and dad, fetch!
Sorry if this is a bit shaky...I was doing the fetching of the toy as well as shooting the video...I am a one woman machine I tell ya! Anyways, this is Gwen's new favorite thing...catapulting her toy off of her exersaucer and it is pretty much her way of making mom and dad play fetch. Funny though...she makes this thing go further and further each time she launches it. No worries, she has only clocked herself in the chin once...for some reason the actual toy does not bend enough to go straight up and smack her so unless she is on top of the toy, it misses her face :) GOOD thing or this would not be as funny!

Gwendolyn's 1st Santa experience
Some pics from this weekend's visit to see Santa. Gwen wore one of her new Xmas outfits and ended up loving sitting with Santa. As you can see, Santa was not to jolly, but hey, at least his beard was real!

Finally, some type of family picture thanks to a good samaritan at the mall :)

Yes we noticed, after the picture was taken, that Gwen's ears look like elf ears because the white thing is pushing them up, HA!
